Are you frustrated with the 3Dglasses?
Here comes a new app for iPhone4 & iPad2 - i3D - which eliminates the use of glasses to view 3D video.
The i3D uses a new technology known as Head-Coupled Perspective (HCP). Developed by Engineering Human-Computer Interaction (EHCI) Research Group, HCP uses a front facing camera to track the movements of a user's head, allowing the app to adjust the display accordingly. The result is a monocular 3D screen that creates the illusion of looking into a box.
One of the researchers of the i3D app says - “We track the head of the user with the front facing camera in order to create a glasses-free monocular 3D display. Such spatially-aware mobile display enables to improve the possibilities of interaction. It does not use the accelerometers and relies only on the front camera.”
The technology works fairly well, but it definitely prefers decent lighting so it can see where your face is.
